Early detection and minimally invasive therapy for ureteral complications
- Study scope: 296 iatrogenic ureteral thermal injuries analyzed (2010–2025) using imaging, creatinine drainage analysis, and endoscopic evaluation. 212 partial ureteral lesions, 84 complete ureteral defects; 242 injuries were thermal.
- Outcomes: Early (0–3 days) & mid-term (4–28 days) complications managed successfully with fully covered stents.
- Healing rates: 91% success in partial defects 79% success in complete defects without need for further intervention
- Key interpretation: Early detection and timely stent placement prevents progression to complex fistulas and significantly improves the healing process without subsequent interventions.

The definition of surgical success was the unobstructed drainage of the by the URS, or in cases where there was a URS migration, occlusion or encrustation and subsequently removed, there is no worsening of renal hydronephrosis in the patient during the follow-up period
